Our Story
The History of Hoover
In 1894, Lena Hoover founded the Hoover Flower Shop in Harbor Springs, Michigan, recognizing the growing demand for fresh flowers among the area's burgeoning resorts. Her entrepreneurial spirit and success soon inspired her husband, Henry Hoover, to join the business, which quickly flourished and became a cherished part of the community. As the shop was passed down through the generations, it was lovingly managed throughout the 1900s by Floyd and Ora Hoover, followed by Albert and Dehra Wells.

In 1975, the business was entrusted to Gail and Gerald Wells, who upheld the family tradition. Their son, Tony Wells, grew up surrounded by flowers, gaining a deep understanding of plants and landscaping from a young age. When Gail and Gerald retired in 2000 and closed the flower shop, Tony redirected his lifelong passion for nature into establishing Hoover Landscaping. For over 20 years, he has been committed to serving the local area, honoring his family's legacy with a dedication to quality and care. Today, Tony works alongside his son, continuing the Hoover tradition of nurturing the outdoors for future generations.
